The owners of this restaurant come from a family of fishermen, and its history dates back to 1952 when the grandparents opened Fonda Papiol, which would later become the Vell Papiol. In 1997, the third and fourth generation of the Vernet Navarro family took charge of the business, and they renovated the premises to the state we find it in today. Salvador and David are the father and son who run the kitchen, while Salvador’s wife, Joana, takes charge of the dining room. Its sea-food dishes are made from fresh market cuisine, and the secret to their success is working with the best produce from the local market every season of the year. The fish dishes are their specialty, however, which they buy directly from the fisherman’s guild of Vilanova i la Geltrú.
