Twenty-two years ago, partners Guillermo Martínez Aranguren and María Isabel López Para settled in Viella after becoming enchanted by the laidback lifestyle and stunning landscapes. In Restaurant Txakolí, they serve up tasty chargrilled dishes and a cider and wine menu of pure Basque Country style. Originally from the Basque Country, Guillermo is responsible for the kitchen, in which first-rate produce defines the cuisine. Meanwhile, María, from Castilla, takes care of the quiet and cosy dining room. Among its best dishes are all kinds of grilled meats, grilled fish, pochas (bean soup) with vegetables and chorizo, and cod omelette. Naturally, these are best accompanied by a typical wine or cider from Northern Spain.
