Joan and Josepa opened the Xaloquell 47 years ago to take full advantage of the tourism boom of the 60s and 70s. Nowadays, their daughter Montserrat and her husband David, both of whom have studied the culinary arts at top hospitality schools, run this cosy family restaurant near the beach. The young and dynamic team provides all their customers with personalized and homely service and are happy to offer recommendations about the region. The cuisine focuses on traditional seafood dishes based on local produce brought fresh each day from the Tarragona fish market. Their menu is in a continual state of renovation, with the team trying out new recipes each season. Yet they never neglect the tried-and-tested classics such as fish suquet and a variety of seafood rice dishes including lobster, cod, paella marinera, and black rice paella.
