Two years ago, partners Jose Manuel Morano and Mireia Roca took over the Fondue Restaurant, a 16-year-old establishment in the center of El Vendrell. Mireia, from Barcelona, comes from a family with a long tradition in the hospitality sector, while Jose, from El Vendrell, has been passionate about cooking since a young age. Together, they focus on home-style cooking made from quality locally sourced produce. As the name of the restaurant infers, their speciality is fondue of which the variety on offer is unrivalled in the region. The raclette caquelon and Swiss vacherin with Iberian ham shavings come especially recommended. Other specialities include snails “a la llauna” or with vegetable sauce and the “xatonada”.
