Head waitress, Marta Altadell, and head chef, Magda Giovani, preside over El Racó del Port, a delectable seafood restaurant on an enviable sheltered section of the L’Ampolla seaport. Marta is the third generation of her family to dedicate themselves to the hospitality trade. Nineteen years ago, she decided to open her own business inspired by a seafood bar that her mother, Guadalupe, had run on the beach. It was there where Magda, Marta’s sister-in-law, trained her cooking skills to offer a tasty menu packed full of local dishes based on rice as well as produce such as eels and nettles. Standout dishes include the rice with lobster and the rice with mantis shrimp, which should always be accompanied by Terra Alta wine.
