Located in the upper section of Tarragona near the cathedral, Julio and Maria Eugenia have been running this restaurant for 15 years. Julio’s family has been in hospitality for five generations. As for Julio himself, he’s spent his whole life in the business, the first 25 of which were working at an iconic eatery near the Tarragona seaport where the stevedores would go for breakfast and lunch. In Racó de l’Abat, Maria Eugenia is responsible for the kitchen while Julio takes care of the dining room which they’ve decorated in a distinct medieval style. As seasonal and locally sourced produce is always assured, it’s better to follow their recommendations rather than order off the menu. But don’t be shy, for their amicable service will make you feel right at home. Two star dishes are the sh and the barbequed bluefish.
