Located near the main high street of Lleida, the Nova Escala restaurant opened its doors in 1992 with help from the husband and wife team of Antonio López and Concepción Garcia. These days, their children, Miguel and Gràcia, as well as Gràcia’s son, Aitor, are in charge of continuing this tradition of homemade and budget-friendly cuisine with personalized attention and quality service. Consisting of two rooms (a bar-cafeteria and a lounge), the place has televisions throughout so customers can watch sports like the Moto GP or football while enjoying a wide variety of tapas and sandwiches, not to mention a selection of vegetarian and vegan options. Among its star dishes are paella, Lleida snails “a la llauna” and codfish esqueixada.
