Antonia Abelló and Josep Viladegut founded Casa José in 1963, as a restaurant to dish out their delectable homemade cuisine. Towards the 1990s and at the request of their happy customers, they began to introduce fish and seafood dishes to the menu. The change made them a standout seafood restaurant in Lleida, and the increase in clientele forced them to open the Nou Casa José, which is currently run by their daughter-in-law, Maria Masegosa, and the grandchildren of the founders, Josep and Rosalia Viladegut. Located in the upper part of Lleida, the new restaurant still offers the best homemade food and a great selection of high-quality fish and seafood. Some of their most popular dishes are the Casa Jose seafood platter and the veal rib eye steak from the Pyrenees of Lleida.
