They say right in front of this restaurant was a small bullring, which once attracted illustrious clients like Lola Flores and Carmen Amaya to the restaurant. With time, the plaza disappeared, and the bullfighters and dancers were replaced by fishermen who would eat here as they came in from the sea. They brought in fresh fish to cook and, they say, helped to prepare the famous Catalan seafood sauce known as “suquets” (at times breaking the mortar and pestle for the sheer strength of their arms). Jacinto is now the owner of the place which once belonged to his father. He treats the clientele as if they were his own family by offering quality homemade food at a fair price which is cooked to taste. “Bueno, bonito y barato”, (good, pretty, and cheap) as one client points out. It doesn’t get much better than that!
