Located in the old town of Tortosa, this central restaurant is run by Mercè and his partner who decided to name it “Vegueria” to commemorate the former territorial division of Catalonia. For Mercè, the restaurant business is nothing new because his grandparents had a bar in Tortosa which was famous for its tripe. In El Vegueria, the duo continues cooking their dishes from grandfather Ramon’s recipes, whose secret ingredient adds a special touch and is widely admired by their customers. Also on the menu are pig’s ears, meatballs, oxtail, and various rice dishes ... all created and cooked for a loyal clientele who flock here for breakfast and lunch.
