Right in front of the old wall and overlooking one of the towers is La
Cuina de Can Simón, an exceptional restaurant that boasts Michelin
star. Nobody would guess this elegant establishment originated as a
fisherman’s bar, which the owner’s grandparents opened around 1950.
Bonfiliu’s grandfather, who’s best known around town as Pere, skipped
his daughter and her husband by passing the restaurant into the hands
of the grandchildren, Xavier and Josep Maria, who have continued
their gastronomic tradition. The two have incorporated their hospitality
knowledge to offer a creative and innovative twist on traditional
cuisine. Modern techniques and old time recipes have allowed them to
be more experimental with desserts and snacks. These differences may
be invisible to the eyes, but they’re certainly not to the palate.
