Hotel Miralles, which lies within Horta de Sant Joan in the Dels Ports Natural Park, is run by Anna and Nuria Miralles. Some 42 years ago, their retired parents, Salvador and Pepita, were given the chance to take over the recently closed village inn. Having already acquired extensive hospitality experience on the Costa Brava, the couple wasted no time accepting the offer and traveling to the town. In 1994, they built this hotel directly opposite the inn. Aside from the friendly, family- orientated service, its standout feature is their quality produce, almost 90% of which is sourced in-house from their herd of white goats, as well as olive trees and a vegetable garden. The cuisine expertly mixes modernity and tradition, especially in their repurposed 13th century “crestó” recipe (as the native goat is called) with escabeche.
