Located in the old town of Viella, Hotel Restaurant Aran is run by the Vivar family. The grandmother referred to in the name is Dolors López, who founded the establishment and has been honoured through a sculpture on the stairs of the main entrance. Now it’s her granddaughters, Cristina who works the kitchen and has been trained in France, and Silvia, who run the restaurant together. Their father, Jose Luis, lends a helping hand and is always on the ball. The cosy locale serves a menu of home-style and international cuisine which is in a constant state of renewal, yet which manages to cling onto its origins. Inside, a typical regional mountain atmosphere sets the mood for guests to dine on local specialities. Produce revolves around top quality beef and game meats, among which the deer civet and river trout stand out.
