Joan Carles and Susana know all too well what’s required in a family- run business: a strong work ethic, perfect product selection, and personalized customer service. The duo started in the restaurant world at a young age before opening their own place in Torroella, called Es Portal de Mar. In 2013, they relocated to this charming 16th-century farmhouse surrounded by stunning scenery. To do so, they transformed the space into a nine-room hotel, a family-run kind of place which focused on the finer details. However, the couple has never compromised on the quality of their restaurant, which went on to win a Gastronomic Hotel Certificate of Excellence – a distinction only small, select, and family-owned operations can receive.
