On the night of San Juan in 1962, Vicenç and Cèlia’s children, Ramon
and Àngel, inaugurated this restaurant in Malgrat. The two served
grilled prawns from Blanes, squid, cockles, mussels and other types of
seafood tapas to a hungry crowd. At that time, there was a tremendous
tourism boom in the region, and they’ve not stopped specialising in
fresh seafood cuisine ever since. The business has been growing, and
the menu has expanded to include new dishes such as seafood rice and
zarzuelas, among other things. Nowadays, Ca la Cèlia is a classic local
restaurant and, after graduating from different Girona schools, Vicenç
and Celia’s grandchildren have now begun working there. The menu is
based on traditional cuisine made from home-style recipes and locally
sourced produce. It’s always busy, so it’s best to reserve a table.
