Can Pineda is a restaurant with tradition, character, and soul; a Barcelona classic where celebrities, chefs and other renowned characters have eaten throughout its 50-year history. Previously, it was a winery, and staff would put a pine branch on the door to alert their customers when a new batch of wine had arrived. Hence, the name was born: Can Pineda. In 1971, Jaime and Rosario opened what they called “a family meal house”. A few years later, their brother Paco joined the team, and the three have been running this restaurant ever since, serving seasonal and market- fresh cuisine with top quality produce. More recently, the daughter Sara joined the team. When they celebrated their 40th anniversary, they published a book on the history of the establishment and invited the biggest names in Catalan gastronomy to a lavish birthday bash.
