In 1992, Pere and Fina opened Can Met, a restaurant that serves quality Catalan cuisine made from fresh local produce (meat from Garrotxa, beans from Santa Pau, and vegetables from local farmers). The team does as much as possible in house, including baking their own bread and preparing desserts. The historic 1849 building that houses the restaurant was the village store for many years. In those days, these would often be the only shop in town and sold everything from shoes to gas, oil, and food. They even served dishes to passers-by, who would share a table and a chat together, effectively weaving the social fabric of the rural region. Although the first years were difficult, sheer determination and a good sense of humour saw them succeed. Their children Gerard and Roger lent a helping hand, the former of whom studied hospitality.
