When the family went to buy this house, it was abandoned and almost
in ruins. However, with lots of love, hard work, and dedication, they
managed to bring it to life again. The old farmhouse was once a hostel
and store that sold almost everything imaginable, which was a common
business model at the time. The family started the restaurant in a modest
manner. Quimeta, the grandmother, had worked as a cook at a school
and got behind the stoves at Can Joan to cook home-style cuisine. Nowadays
their son, Xevi, and his wife, Anna, run the place with their children,
three generations working together for the love of good food and
friendly service that treats the customers as if they were one of their
own. The restaurant boasts mountain views while an upstairs apartment
sleeps eight people and includes access to the swimming pool.
