Can Batlle is set in a rural farmhouse which once served as a brandy factory on the old county road. Grandmother Lolita began to open up her house as an inn and food hall in the 60s, which doubled as a small shop that sold ceramics and souvenirs. In the 80s, Joan and his wife Lourdes, of the second generation, decided to renovate the house, finally opening it as the restaurant you see today. Subsequent Batlle family members have continued the culinary tradition, developing a cuisine of rice and home-style dishes which they’ve modernized over time. These days, their son Roger has taken over, and makes his own wine and oil to serve in the restaurant. The Batlle family are passionate about the produce of the land, which is why they buy their meat in the butchers of Garriguella and their vegetables from local farmers.
