Josep Barris and Anna (Nita) began serving meals right after the Civil War by founding a grocery store. The grandfather, who was a hard worker, and the grandmother, who was a spectacular cook, were pioneers in the home delivery business since they had a car and a donkey to send orders direct to their customer’s doorsteps. Their son Joan and his wife Maria later renovated the space from top to bottom, transforming it into a restaurant, which has been earning a considerable amount of prestige over the years with its star attraction: the snails, cooked using the recipe of their grandparents’ signature sauce. These days, the two sons, Jordi and Xevi, run the business with clearly defined goals. The kitchen had to be efficient, so a few years ago they turned it into a spacious and luminous area where they could work with ease.
