At the end of the 19th century, this was a blacksmith’s shop run by
Francisco Butiñach who forged horseshoes and farm tools. He was
a sociable man and, little by little, the place became a meeting point
for neighbours and friends. When he married Francisca Lloveras, the
smithy turned into a restaurant that served traditional dishes such
as tripe, which can still be found on the menu today. One of Fransisco’s
five children, Modesto, and his wife, Consuelo, took over the
business and expanded the range of Catalan recipes. The next three
generations have since remained faithful to their family recipes, right
up until today where Xevi and his wife (the fifth generation) run
this good food restaurant with a fondness for large portions.
