The parents of the proprietors were the guards of a wealthy
Barcelonan who owned several properties, including this farm. In
1973, he sold it, and the two took advantage of the situation to open
it as a restaurant. In fact, during the Civil War, “this was an inn that
offered food and lodging”, one of the current owners explains, “and
the name (House of the Lame) comes from the former owner who
lost a foot while cutting cork”. The beautifully preserved stone farmhouse
features a highly recommended menu that achieves an enviable
equilibrium between quality and price. The owner tells us he grew
up in the kitchen and has spent a lifetime dedicated to restoring it.
“An ungrateful job,” he says. However, judging from the busy dining
room, his hard work has paid off.
