If there were just one emblematic family restaurant in the Gràcia
neighborhood, Cal Boter would be it. Encarna and Marta, a mother
and daughter team, have been running the restaurant since 1986 as a
space to celebrate Catalonia through both the décor and the food itself.
With porrons, olive oil, and aioli on each table, the atmosphere is
among the most rustic in Gràcia. The duo starts the day by serving a
hearty buffet breakfast, continues with a set lunch and finishes with a
delightful dinner, which is so popular you’ll need to book in advance.
The menu, which is home-style, traditionally Catalan, seasonal, and
–above all else – locally sourced, consists of regional favourites such
as a mixed grill, snails, mushrooms, “calçots”, and seasonal codfish
dishes and stews.
