Ignasi began renting an inn in 1989, a few meters from where it is
now. With the help of his parents, Felicià and Assunción, they built
up a loyal customer base with their tasty home-style yet original cuisine.
Years later, Ignasi and his wife Laia co-founded Ca l’Ignasi, an
establishment which has always opted for local produce. At the time,
they were pioneers of sourcing produce from nearby farmers and had
an extensive wine list comprised entirely of regional varieties (they
were awarded a prize for having the best wine list in the province of
Barcelona). Don’t come for a rushed meal because Ca l’Ignasi belongs
to the Slow Food restaurant movement.
